Google Expands Search Profiles for US Publishers

September 17, 2026

Google announced three changes to publisher Search profiles on September 16, 2026: management across multiple brands, revised article displays and broader US eligibility.

Search profiles bring social accounts, recent articles and other links together in a verified, customizable profile.

One login for several publications

The new multi-account support lets media organizations claim and manage profiles for their sub-brands from a single login. The change addresses publishers operating more than one publication.

Article presentation and access

Google says it has optimized thumbnail presentation and increased the headline length displayed within profiles.

It has also lowered the eligibility threshold for US publishers and creators to 10,000 followers across YouTube, Instagram, X or TikTok.

The announcement concerns profile management and presentation. It does not announce a corresponding change to organic search rankings or guarantee more traffic.

Publishers can review Google’s linked setup guidance to check how the eligibility rules apply to their organization.
