YouTube announced new discovery and shopping features at Made on YouTube on September 23, 2026. Custom Feeds will let viewers save separate recommendation streams for particular interests or routines, while expanded Ask YouTube tools will support product research.
A homepage shaped by prompts
According to YouTube’s event announcement, viewers will be able to describe the kind of viewing session they want in everyday language. They can save several feeds on the homepage, with recommendations refreshing automatically.
That gives users a more explicit way to express what they want to watch at a particular moment. It remains a recommendation feature: describing a feed does not mean selecting or controlling every video that appears.
Product questions across screens
In its viewer feature announcement, YouTube says Ask YouTube will support follow-up questions and organized video recommendations. Product searches may return comparison tables with attributes and categories; viewers can continue asking questions after opening a video. Voice interaction on TV is also part of the update.
Availability
YouTube says Custom Feeds will reach US users on the web, mobile devices and TVs soon. The announcement does not give a Canadian launch date. The features should therefore be treated as an announced rollout, rather than something every account can use immediately.
The viewer changes sit alongside creator tools announced at the same event, including conversational editing and video A/B testing in YouTube Studio.
