Cognex Launches In-Sight 1750 Wafer Identification System

September 23, 2026

Cognex announced the In-Sight 1750 Series on September 23, 2026, targeting wafer and panel identification in semiconductor manufacturing. The company says the system is designed to reduce interruptions caused by difficult-to-read markings while preserving production traceability.

Reading difficult marks

In its launch release, Cognex describes a combination of AI, imaging and purpose-built lighting for degraded identification marks and challenging substrate materials. Missed reads can require operator intervention and interrupt equipment flow.

The product addresses identification and tracking within manufacturing. It is not a new processor design or an announcement of additional chip-fabrication capacity.

An upgrade path for existing users

Cognex says the system supports job conversion for In-Sight 1740 users, alongside a web-based configuration interface and built-in read logging. Those features are intended to simplify deployment and support quality and process control.

What remains to be measured

Claims of improved throughput and fewer interruptions come from the manufacturer. The announcement does not provide a quantified, independently verified improvement for a specified production line. Actual results will depend on the markings, substrates and equipment configuration involved.
