Qualcomm Expands Snapdragon Flagship Lineup With Two Gen 6 Chips

September 24, 2026

Qualcomm is expanding its premium smartphone processor range with Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 and Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6. The company announced the chips on September 22 and outlined the wider mobile and audio lineup in a September 24 Snapdragon Summit update.

Two tiers for premium Android phones

According to Qualcomm’s announcement, both platforms use a 2nm process and combine its Oryon CPU, Adreno graphics and Hexagon neural processing technology. The Extreme model adds Adreno Neural Fusion, an AI-assisted graphics system, alongside advanced camera features.

Qualcomm names HONOR, Motorola, OnePlus, OPPO, vivo and Xiaomi among the brands expected to introduce devices using the new platforms. A processor announcement does not establish the price or release date of each phone.

AI and connectivity take centre stage

In its September 24 overview, Qualcomm highlights on-device agents, an updated sensing system and support for Wi-Fi 8 and 5G-Advanced. The company also presents Snapdragon Sound Elite as part of the broader launch.

These are platform capabilities and vendor performance claims. Which features reach buyers will depend on handset hardware, software and regional network support. Independent testing of finished phones will be needed to assess sustained speed, battery life and the practical value of the AI features.
