Amazon refreshes Kindle lineup and adds a page-turning remote

October 1, 2026

Amazon announced a redesigned Kindle family on October 1, covering the entry-level Kindle, Paperwhite and Colorsoft. The refresh adds flush-front displays and new colour finishes, alongside page-turning accessories.

Devices and accessories

Amazon’s announcement describes thinner, lighter designs. The six-inch Kindle has a 16GB version and an aluminium-backed 32GB option. Paperwhite retains adjustable warm lighting and waterproofing, while Colorsoft focuses on colour reading.

The new Kindle Click is a Bluetooth remote compatible with the refreshed family and Kindle models from 2024 onward. A separate cover adds physical page-turn buttons to Paperwhite Signature Edition and Colorsoft Signature Edition.

Availability varies

The Verge reports a US launch on October 28 for Paperwhite and Colorsoft, correcting its initial report that they were available immediately. Its coverage lists Kindle Click at US$34.99. Local prices and release schedules should be checked separately.
