Amazon Plans US$100 Million-Plus Robotics Manufacturing Site in Indiana

September 24, 2026

Amazon announced on September 24 that it plans to invest more than US$100 million in an advanced manufacturing facility in Greenwood, Indiana. The 585,000-square-foot site is expected to open by 2028 and create 300 manufacturing and engineering jobs.

Building equipment for fulfilment

According to Amazon’s release, the facility will produce equipment for its North American fulfilment and robotics network.

Amazon says it has manufactured more than one million robots in the United States and deployed them across more than 300 facilities globally. The Indiana project follows a robotics manufacturing investment announced for Texas in August.

A planned expansion

The announcement concerns future manufacturing capacity. It does not mean the Greenwood factory is already operating or that all proposed jobs have been filled.

Amazon links its robotics expansion to safety improvements and more technical roles. Those are company claims; this announcement does not provide an independent assessment of the project’s net employment effect.
