The update notification is here. Before everyone taps it between meetings, give your work devices a little planning time.
What is rolling out
Apple announced on September 14 that iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27, watchOS 27, visionOS 27, and tvOS 27 had begun rolling out. The release includes Siri AI in beta, with personal-context capabilities, on-screen awareness, and actions across apps. Apple’s software release announcement details the changes and availability.
Availability depends on device, language, and region. Apple says Siri AI initially supports English, with more languages planned for October. Its announcement also lists regional restrictions, including different availability across Apple platforms in the EU. An eligible operating-system upgrade does not automatically make every AI feature available.
Guava analysis: pilot the working day
Build a small pilot around the tools your team actually uses. Include someone who joins video calls, someone who works remotely through a VPN, and someone who relies on a specialist business application.
- Confirm device eligibility and your organisation’s update policy.
- Check recent backups and how essential work would be recovered.
- Test sign-in, device management, security software, printers, and business apps.
- Review assistant permissions and how work information is handled.
- Give the help desk a short list of expected changes and known issues.
Testing should cover a complete task, not just whether an app opens. Can someone sign in, retrieve a file, edit it, share it with the correct permissions, and continue on another device? That is a more useful result than a screenshot of a successful installation.
Introduce AI features as a separate decision
Treat operating-system maintenance and adoption of a new assistant capability as related decisions with their own checks. Staff need to know which work information they may use, when to review an output, and who handles unexpected behaviour.
For a pilot, start with low-impact tasks using appropriate test information. Record errors and review effort alongside any time saved. Expand only when the experience fits your workflow and policies.
Set a rollout timetable based on compatibility findings and your security requirements. Avoid a blanket delay with no owner or review date; an upgrade plan should eventually result in an upgrade.
