Cloudflare releases Clef decision models for AI workflows

October 2, 2026

Cloudflare released Clef and Clef-flash on October 1, adding specialized decision models to Workers AI. The company also published the models on Hugging Face under an Apache 2.0 license.

The models classify inputs and return typed answers with probabilities. An example is routing a support request to the appropriate team or flagging its urgency. Cloudflare says they support image classification, a 64,000-token context window and compatibility with the Jev API.

Performance and fine-tuning

Cloudflare reports lower latency and competitive scores in its published evaluations. Performance varies by benchmark, so those results do not establish that either model is superior for every workload.

The company is initially offering hands-on fine-tuning through its engineering team, with a self-service platform planned later. The release gives developers both hosted access and a local experimentation option.
