AWS makes CloudWatch Omni generally available for application and AI monitoring

September 25, 2026

AWS announced general availability of Amazon CloudWatch Omni on September 23, following its September 22 introduction. The service brings application monitoring and AI-agent observability into a collaborative experience separate from the standard AWS console.

Initial availability covers US East (N. Virginia), US West (Oregon) and Europe (Ireland). AWS describes “spaces” that bring together telemetry across accounts and regions, with support for other cloud environments, including Azure.

A shared workspace for investigations

According to the launch blog, teams can access a dedicated organization URL through IAM Identity Center single sign-on. Engineers can work together on an investigation with the same evidence, while AWS DevOps Agent assists with investigating operational issues.

AWS says existing CloudWatch telemetry appears without reconfiguration. Existing dashboards, alarms and APIs remain available, allowing teams to evaluate the new experience alongside their current workflows.

AI agents and developer tools

Omni includes visibility into model interactions, prompts and tool calls, alongside support for OpenTelemetry. AWS also offers an IDE extension for local development, including VS Code, Cursor and Kiro.

The local extension is available without an AWS account and is free to use locally. That should not be read as a statement that every hosted Omni capability is free; teams should check the service’s pricing and regional availability before rollout.
