Tracked changes let you review edits before they become part of a final document. This guide covers Word for Microsoft 365 on Windows.
Prepare for review
Save a review copy so you can return to the earlier document if needed. On Review, choose All Markup and show all reviewers so you can assess the full set of revisions.
If you are still collecting edits, enable Review > Track Changes. Turning tracking off stops recording new edits; it does not resolve existing revisions.
Accept or reject each edit
- Go to the beginning of the document.
- On Review, use Next to select a tracked change.
- Read the surrounding paragraph, then choose Accept to keep the edit or Reject to undo it.
- Continue through the remaining revisions. Use Previous if you need to revisit a location.
Use bulk acceptance only after reviewing the document. Accept All Changes Shown applies to visible revisions, which may be filtered.
Check the final copy
Open the Reviewing Pane to check the remaining revision count. Address comments separately; they are not part of Track Changes.
No Markup only hides revisions. To remove them, accept or reject them. For a final inspection on Windows, open File > Info > Check for Issues > Inspect Document.
Save and reopen the final copy before distributing it.
