Prepare an email now and choose a later sending time. This guide covers new Outlook for Windows and Outlook on the web.
Before you start
Use a supported account. Schedule send in new Outlook is unavailable for IMAP and POP accounts. Classic Outlook uses a separate delay-delivery workflow.
Schedule the message
- Compose your email and check its recipients and attachments.
- Open the dropdown beside Send and choose Schedule send.
- Select a suggested time or set a custom date and time. Review your choice, then select Send.
The message stays in Drafts until its scheduled delivery time.
Check your setup
Schedule a harmless message to yourself first. Confirm it appears in Drafts, then check its arrival after the chosen time before scheduling an important message.
Send it earlier
In new Outlook, open the scheduled message from Drafts, select Cancel send, then Send. On the web, Microsoft also documents opening the message, selecting the edit pencil, and choosing Send Now. Follow the controls displayed in your version.
