Apple announced M6 versions of the 14-inch MacBook Pro and 24-inch iMac on October 27, extending the chip to two more Mac product lines. Preorders open October 28, with customer deliveries and store availability beginning November 6.
MacBook Pro starts at C$2,799
The 14-inch notebook pairs a 12-core CPU with a 12-core GPU and dual 16-core Neural Engine. Apple lists 16GB of unified memory as standard, configurable to 32GB, and memory bandwidth up to 170GB/s. Its stated battery life is up to 24 hours, a company test result rather than a guarantee for every workload.
iMac starts at C$2,099
The entry iMac has a 10-core CPU and 10-core GPU. A 12-core CPU and GPU configuration starts at C$2,299. The desktop retains a 24-inch 4.5K display and seven colour options, while adding Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6. Available 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet is restricted to the higher configuration.
Performance claims need the comparison
Apple reports gains in graphics, local AI and creative workloads, but the comparisons differ by machine and task. The notebook figures commonly compare M6 with M5, while the iMac release compares with M4 and older Intel models. Those percentages should not be treated as a single performance uplift across the entire range.
What buyers can establish now
The announcements confirm configurations, preorder timing and starting Canadian prices. They do not replace independent battery, thermal or application testing. Both products ship with macOS 27, with AI feature availability subject to device, language and regional requirements.
